Process

Four stages, no surprises.

You see work at every stage and approve before we move on. Nothing gets built on a foundation you have not signed off, and you always know what happens next and roughly when.

Stage by stage

How a project
actually runs.

Stage 01

Listen

Week 1 · one session plus a file review

Ninety minutes with someone who knows your customers — not a form to fill in. What you sell, who buys it, who you keep losing to, and what has already been tried and abandoned.

We go through whatever exists already: old logo files, current packaging, the catalogue, the website, past campaign material. Often the useful thing is not replacing all of it.

Stage 02

Position

Week 1–2 · one page, one review

A short written direction: what the brand stands for, who it speaks to, how it should feel, and what it should never look like. One page, plain language, no jargon.

This is the document every later design decision gets judged against. It is what stops a review turning into a contest of personal taste, and it is why we ask you to approve it before anything visual begins.

Stage 03

Design

Week 2–5 · two routes, then refinement

Two directions, developed far enough to judge — shown on the surfaces that matter to your business rather than on a blank sheet. A pack, a hoarding, a catalogue spread, a phone screen.

You pick a route. We build it out into a working system: type scale, colour values for print and screen, icon and pattern rules, and applications across the touchpoints you actually use.

Two rounds of refinement are included at this stage. Most projects use one.

Stage 04

Deliver

Week 5–6 · handover, then production

Source files, print-ready artwork and a guidelines document, all in your name. Fonts and licensing explained so you know what you own and what you are renting.

For print runs we supervise on press. For signage and exhibition we attend installation. For digital we hand over hosting, analytics and accounts.

Nothing stays locked to the studio. If you work with someone else next year, they get everything they need.

What we need from you

Three things,
and that's it.

01

Ninety minutes

One kickoff session with someone who genuinely knows your customers — usually a founder or a sales head, not a coordinator relaying answers.

02

Your existing files

Whatever exists: old logo artwork, current packaging, the catalogue, ad accounts. We would rather see the real material than a description of it.

03

One decision-maker

One person on your side who can approve work. Projects slow down when feedback arrives from six people with equal authority and different opinions.

Common questions

About timing
and money.

Three to four weeks for a brand identity system, assuming feedback comes back within a couple of days at each stage. Packaging depends on how many SKUs are in the range. Websites run six to eight weeks from approved design. Exhibition work is scheduled backwards from your show date.

A fixed project quote issued after the first call, split across stages — typically an advance to begin, a payment at design approval, and the balance on handover. Print and production are quoted separately per job because they depend on quantity and substrate. No hourly billing, and no invoices you did not expect.

Two full rounds at design stage, which is enough for almost every project. If the brief changes substantially after approval — a new audience, a new product line — that is a new scope and we will quote it rather than absorb it quietly and rush the work.

That is fine and it happens often. Clients with a clear positioning already come straight to design. Clients with strong artwork come straight to production. We will tell you honestly if skipping a stage will cause a problem later, but the decision is yours.

You do. Source files, print-ready artwork, guidelines, hosting, domain and analytics — all in your name, handed over at the end of the project. If you work with a different studio next year, they will have everything they need.
